From Albany

Hi! My name is Karina. I live in Albany and I am a proud Mum of three sons who are 21, 16 and 14.

I have always been very passionate about standing up for equality, human rights and challenging discrimination in ALL aspects of life. I work in mental health and I feel very privileged meeting, advocating and supporting people from all walks of life. I love supporting a cause I'm passionate about wherever I can and I enjoy volunteering in the community.

I am especially passionate about advocating and supporting LGBTIQA+ people for these reasons and for the LOVE and PRIDE I have for my gorgeous Sister, Aunty, Cousin and most recently for my Son! I am more than happy to catch up for a coffee and have a chat!

Age 43
From NZ, lived in Albany for 5 years.

I am the mother of a transgender child. My daughter is currently aged 8 years but identified as transgender as early as 2 years old.

I have experience with supporting my child to transition at School and navigate the health system.

Our family is currently supported by the Gender Diversity Clinic (GDS).  GDS is an outpatient service located at Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) Perth that provides children and adolescents up to 18 years with a multidisciplinary approach to the assessment, care and treatment of gender diversity.

I am happy to chat over coffee, phone calls etc.

I am available anytime – but would prefer to arrange meeting time in advance.

If you'd like to contact me, just leave me a message through the form here and I'll get back to you.  Your details will remain confidential and will be handled with discretion.

Age 37

From Cologne, Germany

Originally from Cologne, Germany's Gay and Lesbian capital with its motto 'Live and Let Live'. I have been in Australia for more than 13 years (in Albany for about 6).

Although hetero myself, I have grown up exposed to and celebrating LGBT+ milestones such as Christopher Street Day. I love catching up with my friends in Albany who live in both hetero and same-sex relationships and I value 'my' people for who they are and our similar views and ideas about life and the world. To me it is so important to find our 'equally mad' tribe and feel we belong.

I'm happy to sit in a café or take a beach walk with my dog as it can help put things into perspective or just to have a laugh with a like-minded soul.

If you'd like to contact me, just leave me a message through the form above and I'll get back to you.  Your details will remain confidential and will be handled with discretion.

Age: 47
From Albany

I'm an Early Childhood/Primary Teacher and I have recently moved to Denmark after living in Albany for the past 24 years. I have a 23 year old daughter and a 20 year old son. I am excited about creating a PFLAG group in Albany as I have many gay friends, colleagues and family members who I love and I guess I just want to help create a safe space for everyone to feel loved and supported! I would love to be able to be a support and friend to anyone who would like to chat either on the phone or at a cafe or wherever.

Age: 54

Hello, my name is Janet and I am a 54 year old mother of twins who are funny and intelligent and kind and gay. My sons came out in upper high school and were given 100% support and acceptance by all of their extended family and peers. There’s no stereotypical gay person and their sexuality did come as a surprise and uncovered assumptions I didn’t even know I had in regards to how their lives would pan out.

I am available any afternoon for a coffee or a chat with anybody who would like to talk.

If you'd like to contact me, just leave me a message through the form above and I'll get back to you.  Your details will remain confidential and will be handled with discretion.

We are grandparents who live at Albany, and are very happy to talk to anyone about our experience as parents of a wonderful daughter who in the late 1990s, at the age of nineteen let us know that she was gay.

At that time it would have been most helpful for us to have had the opportunity to speak with parents who had been through the same experience and had processed this information in their own lives.

We are very proud of our daughter and hope that we might, either separately or together be able to meet with other parents and perhaps be of some help to them.

If you'd like to contact us, just leave a message through the form above and we'll get back to you.  Your details will remain confidential and will be handled with discretion.

I have a home in Albany and I also farm in the wheatbelt. I have a BA in Psychology and a Diploma in Holistic Counselling. I am a Civil Celebrant and my services include funerals and commitment ceremonies. I am a Mum, Granny and a Wife. I have always had a passion for people and their stories and I actively campaigned for Marriage Equality. The journey was particularly relevant to my own family and I have seen the heartache that is created by homophobia. I am willing to chat to anyone if they have a need and look forward to an even more inclusive Australian Society. I will always maintain confidentiality and offer my services free of charge.
